A World-Class Park for Everyone
Nathan Benderson Park is a 550-acre community park centered around a 400-acre spring-fed lake in Sarasota, Florida. Originally designed as a stormwater management area, the park has been transformed into one of the premier multi-sport and recreation destinations in the southeastern United States.
Whether you're here for competitive rowing, a morning jog along the waterfront, a family picnic, or a community fitness class, the park offers facilities and amenities to support every kind of visit. Admission is always free and the park is open daily.

The heart of Nathan Benderson Park is its 400-acre spring-fed lake — home to a FISA-certified rowing course and a wide range of paddle sports and water recreation.

2,000-Meter Rowing Course
The park features one of the finest rowing courses in North America — a 2,000-meter, 8-lane FISA-certified venue with minimal current and wind exposure. The course has hosted USRowing National Championships, NCAA Championships, World Rowing events, and Olympic & Paralympic Trials.
Warm-up lanes, electronic timing systems, and boat storage facilities support both competitive events and daily training for local rowing clubs and visiting teams.

Trails & Pathways
The park's multi-use paved trail system loops around the entire lake, offering scenic waterfront views at every turn. Trails are open to walkers, joggers, cyclists, and skaters — making them one of the most popular amenities in the park. The flat, well-maintained paths are also accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
Shaded rest areas, water fountains, and distance markers are placed along the route so you can pace your workout or simply take a break and enjoy the scenery.

The Finish Tower
The park's iconic finish tower is the centerpiece of the rowing venue. Standing at the south end of the course, it houses state-of-the-art electronic timing equipment, race officials' quarters, broadcast facilities, and an observation deck with panoramic lake views. The tower also serves as a venue for private events and receptions.
